Mike has acquired skills from experiences earlier on in his career as a broker, business development manager, and as a developer for Opus NW. It is these experiences, which make Ruhl a leader from start to finish in all levels of real estate investment. His continuous work in the commercial real estate industry has helped him develop deep contacts within the life science community.
At BioMed, Mike currently is leading a team of design and construction personnel to develop and build a $50 million Life Science Center expansion in South Lake Union, Seattle.
In addition, Mike is also leading a team in the redevelopment of a 60,000 square foot contaminated site in Seattle, managing all aspects of design, clean up and coordination with Department of Ecology and the current land owner to get a Consent Decree for the DOE.
Mike works in one of the most collaborative markets in the country, this has helped attract the attention of international bio-tech companies to the Seattle developing cutting edge cures for the world-wide diseases. Ruhl has established strong relationships with BioMed’s tenant partners, which includes Novo Nordisk, Omeros and NanoString. To date, Ruhl has added nearly 230,000 square feet of lab and office space in the Seattle Area and because of this, BioMed Realty is now a recognized leader in Seattle as a provider for the life science industry.
Ruhl graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Seattle University in Seattle, Washington. He is recognized on the board of directors for the National Association of Industrial and Office Parks.
