Nikita C. Anderson is the department’s undergraduate academic adviser, bringing over 15 years of experience in higher education and 10 years in academic advising. Born and raised in Gary, Indiana, she earned an undergraduate Dual Bachelor of Arts in Professional Writing and African American Studies from Purdue University. After leaving the Midwest, she spent nearly 16 years on the East Coast, where she pursued advanced degrees, including an M.A. in English with a focus on Screenwriting and Cinematic Storytelling from Morgan State University, and an MFA in Creative Writing and Publishing Arts from the University of Baltimore.
Nikita is a versatile writer, working as a fiction writer, playwright, and screenwriter. She is also an active member of professional organizations such as MPACE (Mountain Pacific Association of Colleges and Employers) and NACADA (Global Community for Academic Advising). Passionate about cultural arts, she enjoys everything from plays and music to museums and film festivals. In her free time, she participates in book clubs, binge-watches Netflix, listens to music, and plays RPG video games.
