Robert Penney

Rob is the Chief Investment Officer at Unico. He is responsible for leading Unico’s investment team, developing strategy and sourcing new investment opportunities, and playing a central role in capital formation initiatives for the firm.

Rob has completed over $3 billion in investment activity and helped grow Unico’s AUM from <$1 billion to over $5 billion since he joined the company in 2010. He has extensive experience in sourcing real estate opportunities, structuring transactions, sourcing equity, arranging joint ventures, and debt financing. Prior to his current role, he was the SVP, Acquisitions, where he led transaction negotiations and was responsible for all aspects of new acquisitions from origination through closing. Rob became a member of the Executive Committee in 2017.

Rob received his bachelor’s degree at Gonzaga University and his MBA at the University of Washington.
