Shufan Yang

Shufan Yang recently graduated with First Class Honors in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics from SOAS, University of London. His academic training combines a strong foundation in political economy with interdisciplinary perspectives on governance, finance, and sustainable development. He also holds the CFA Institute Certificate in ESG Investing and strives to practice his philosophy of “permanent growth and development” throughout his academic journey and professional career.

Shufan’s research focused primarily on China, covering topics such as its electric vehicle industrial policy, poverty alleviation campaign, grassroots institutions in Shanghai’s urban renewal, and particularly its land economy—the logic behind the boom and bust of its real estate market. In this work, he consistently sought to draw out the implications of policy for industrial transformation and development, highlighting the factors underpinning sustainable market growth.

Through years of rigorous academic training, Shufan has developed a refined qualitative approach to market analysis. By pursuing the MSRE program, he is now actively advancing his quantitative skill set, with the goal of becoming an elite market researcher.
