Tejal Pastakia founded Seattle-based development firm Pastakia & Associates in 2010 with a focus on developing mixed-use urban infill projects in the Puget Sound region. Since that time, her firm has grown significantly – building more than 200,000 sq. ft. and 5,000+ units within projects focused on a variety of elements from urban mixed-use, office and work force housing to mixed-income, historic renovation, adaptive reuse and collegiate services.
Working in collaboration with various partners – from local and institutional organizations to general contractors and design professionals – Pastakia also frequently collaborates with property owners to help them develop their own real estate assets. As a result, most of the firm’s portfolio consists of long-term hold assets.
Ms. Pastakia also brings an in-depth knowledge of innovative development tools to the firm, including experience in sustainable development techniques, public/private partnerships and skills navigating financing mechanisms, which includes 220/ 221 d (4) HUD financing, as well as other sources of private equity and debt.
Some of the firm’s recent work includes Bogtown Flats (Greenwood, Seattle), Zella Apartments (Queen Anne, Seattle), Ivy Apartments (Interbay, Seattle), Fremont Crossing Offices (Fremont, Seattle), Surrey on Main Apartments (Bellevue, Washington) and Aria Flats (Redmond, Washington).
Ms. Pastakia has a Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture from the University of Oklahoma, a Master’s Degree in Architecture from The University of Washington, an Urban Design Certificate from The University of Washington and a Real Estate Certificate from the University of Washington.
